Are you eager to develop your excellence in an inclusive, collaborative, and empowering community? Are you excited about joining a company that strives to make a difference – for its employees, clients, and society? Are you motivated by creating sustainable change that benefits society and nature? If this sounds like you, or you’re curious to learn more, then this role could be the perfect opportunity.

Join Ramboll's rapidly growing Data Centers practice as a Lead Consultant, supporting hyperscale, colocation, and mission-critical development projects across North America. Work alongside industry leaders on site selection and site feasibility, technical due diligence, environmental review, civil design review, and early-stage development planning for some of the world's largest technology clients.

The successful candidate will combine assistant project management capabilities with a civil engineering background to help coordinate multidisciplinary due diligence assignments and evaluate site development considerations. This position can be based in any of our New England offices: Boston, Hartford, Portland, or Westford. Our New England offices put you at a crossroads of vibrant cities, coastal and forested landscapes, and active communities tackling real-world environmental challenges.

At Ramboll, we will support and encourage your professional development, invite you to unfold your ingenuity and contribute to exciting and innovative projects, and work for sustainable change so people and nature can flourish. If this sounds like you, or you’re curious to learn more, then this role could be the perfect opportunity. Join our team and work with us to close the gap to a sustainable future.

Your new role

As our new Lead Consultant, you will serve in an assistant project manager role for data center projects from early site screening through due diligence and conceptual planning. Working closely with project managers, technical specialists, and client teams, you will coordinate multidisciplinary inputs; track scope, schedule, budget, actions, and deliverables; and help maintain clear communication across the project team. You will also apply your civil engineering background to review conceptual master plans and evaluate site access, grading, stormwater, utilities, earthwork, and other site development considerations. To succeed in this role, you should be highly organized, technically grounded, detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Support subject matter experts in delivering complex data center due diligence assignments by assisting with scope, schedule, budget, staffing, deliverables, and client expectations.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams, maintain project schedules, track action items and information requests, and provide status updates to ensure timely project execution.
  • Review site development concepts, including master plans, test fits, civil/site constraints, utilities, grading, stormwater management, permitting considerations, and other technical factors to support due diligence recommendations.
  • Prepare and quality-review client-ready reports, risk summaries, proposals, work plans, cost estimates, and technical deliverables while supporting multiple concurrent data center projects and site visits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, geology, chemistry, physics, biology, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred. Environmental engineering candidates should have demonstrated civil/site development or land development experience.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant consulting experience, including civil/site development, due diligence, land development, or multidisciplinary project delivery.
  • Working knowledge of site development principles, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, earthwork, development constraints, permitting, and interpretation of conceptual site plans, Civil 3D drawings, surveys, and technical studies.
  • Strong technical writing, organization, communication, problem-solving, and client-service skills; experience with CAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, GIS, data centers, mission-critical, industrial projects, and/or EIT or PE credentials preferred.
